THE DAWNS

Football in Siderno was born in 1911, with the foundation of AS Juventus Siderno. The greatest football fortunes of this club were in the thirties and forties, with participation in various  Serie C championships , until the forced interruption of sporting activities due to the Second World War. After the war period, it restarted from the 1st Category and subsequently the team experienced a period of glory participating in various Serie D championships thanks to the president Francesco Romeo and the sports director Mimmo Cataldo. Worth mentioning is the historic achievement of the title of Champion of Italy in the Allievi category.

THE PERIOD OF CRISIS

In the 70s the team falters in the local championships, in these years other city football clubs are born until 1977 when the union of the various Siderno football clubs is seen in a single team, AC Siderno, which starts again from the third category. This partnership was born from the commitment of a group of members: Filippo Sgambelluri, Damiano Verteramo, Pino Reale, Enzo Leonardo and the Sports Director Francesco Barillaro who lead the team to important goals.

RETURN TO GLORY 1977-1990

The new AC Siderno club experienced unforgettable years starting from the third category in 1977-1978, reaching the Interregional in the 1982-1983 season where it played for seven consecutive seasons until relegation during the 1989-1990 season.

THE YEARS OF EXCELLENCE AND THE CALABRIA CUP

Subsequently, in the 1990-1991 season, it took part in the Promotion championship and was subsequently promoted to the newly formed Excellence championship and in 1991-1992 it won the prestigious Coppa Calabria.

UNION WITH FC JONICA SIDERNO AND THE BRIEF RETURN TO SERIE D

The merger with FC Jonica Siderno, another city team, followed and the team played in the excellence championship until 1998-1999 when it was promoted again to Serie D where it remained for 2 seasons with relegation in 2000-2001.

This is followed by Excellence and Promotion championships with a stint in the first category in 2014-2015

THE CRISIS AND THE RESTART

In the 2018-2019 season AS Siderno finished the championship of excellence in last place and was not registered in the Promotion championship during the season, however a group of fans took over and registered the team with the historic name of Siderno 1911, starting again from the third category, thus avoiding the disappearance of Sidernese football, soon landing in the first category where it is still playing for the third consecutive year.
